What addictions does Resort 12 treat?
We treat a wide variety of substance addictions, as well as process addictions such as eating, gambling and sex. We also treat co-occurring disorders that frequently occur with addiction, such as depression and anxiety; as well as treating trauma – which is often one of the causes of addiction.
How does Resort 12 treat addiction?
Our approach to addiction treatment includes a contemporary, smart, physical and holistic treatment programme, which we are globally recognised for in the behavioural health profession community. The main treatment we use is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), a highly tailored approach modified to each individual’s specific needs. We also use the renowned 12 Steps method which our clinical team have adapted to be culturally sensitive and suit modern-day addictions. The core programme is enhanced with Mindfulness Therapy (therapeutic meditation techniques) and personalised Exercise Therapy. We offer an evidence-based therapy called EMDR for clients who are also experiencing PTSD or trauma symptoms.
Does Resort 12 have a family programme?
A Family Treatment Programme is available free of charge and allows the client’s family to be involved in the treatment in order to reach better results. We encourage all of our client’s families to participate. This is not only beneficial to their loved one but to themselves as well. The family programme takes place over the last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of every month.
Is Resort 12 licensed?
Resort 12 as part of The Cabin Group is licensed by the Thailand Ministry of Public Health. Treatment at our centre is administered by a team of licensed, Western trained psychiatraists, psychologists and addictions counselling specialists.

What does the treatment programme include?
Our programmes include private accommodation, all meals, individual counselling, group addiction therapy sessions, physical therapy, massage therapy, weekly excursions and aftercare plus our special 3 day Family Programme.
How long will I have to stay at Resort 12?
We offer a 28 day accelerated programme, 60 or 90 day recovery programme, and a tailored-duration programme. Your length of stay depends on your individual needs and your treatment plan is personalised to suit your requirements.
What are the benefits of coming to an inpatient rehab?
Inpatient rehab gives you the opportunity to work through your addiction for a significant time period without the interruptions and distractions of daily life. By engaging in an inpatient programme, you can consider all aspects of life, find out the root cause of issues, evaluate living patterns and relationships, and eventually reprioritise and restructure your life to start living in a healthy and fulfilling way.
During your rehab, you will experience complete honesty with yourself in an environment that is nurturing, supportive and healing. You will have structure, supervision, no access to substances, no negative influences, therapy options, a balanced diet, and tools for recovery. You will be able to completely focus on yourself.
The Resort 12 inpatient programme combines a unique and personalised programme with a variety of therapeutic approaches in a setting that gives each client the necessary tools to succeed in ongoing recovery. Inpatient treatment can give you a new chance at life and help you realise that suffering from a disease does not make you a bad person. You can begin again with the tools and support that are given to you throughout the duration of the programme and beyond.
Are there any extracurricular activities?
Resort 12 encourages clients to experience fun activities every Sunday by joining excursions that are professionally managed and clients are also attended to by Resort 12 clinical support staff. You will be able to go on a number of different excursions once a week (Sunday), depending on the duration of your programme.
Does Resort 12 have telephones and/or internet available?
Internet can be used twice a day from 6–8 am and 8-11 pm. Phone calls can be made on Saturday from 3-6 pm. There are exceptions to the rules for businessmen or individuals with pressing job requirements. You can speak to your counsellor about phone and internet use.
What would a day in Resort 12 be like?
From Monday to Friday, daily routines typically include group therapy, one-on-one therapy, fitness therapy, mindfulness coaching and other therapeutic workshops. On Saturday mornings, clients participate in art or drum therapy, while afternoons are for personal phone time or they can make use of our professional grooming services. Sunday are reserved for fun day trips or excursions around Chiang Mai. An example of a day at Resort 12 can be found here.
PAYMENT & INSURANCE
How does payment work?
Full payment is due prior to arrival. A 20% deposit is required for all reservations in order to book your place. A refund of the deposit will be given if a client cancels their reservation before their arrival date.
What is Resort 12’s refund policy?
Resort 12 is the only treatment centre that offers a pro-rata refund on request if a client chooses to exit the programme within 7 days of arrival, with only the 20% deposit being non-fundable. We offer this because we are confident in the quality of our treatment programmes.
Can I use insurance for treatment at Resort 12?
We are a selected supplier for most major worldwide insurers including but not exclusively for AETNA, CIGNA, United Healthcare, and VA Foreign Medical Programme. Direct billing for conditions such as substance abuse, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar and depression is available. We recommend that you contact your insurance provider directly to find out what your policy covers and to what amount.
DETOX, SOBER HOUSE AND AFTERCARE
Does The Resort 12 offer detox?
We are partnered with a dedicated, addiction-specialised hospital run by Thailand’s foremost detox doctor, which provides medically supervised detox just steps away from our treatment centre. Our 24-hour on-call medical staff are here to oversee your wellbeing at all times during your stay.
What aftercare is available?
At Resort 12 we understand that aftercare is vital to relapse prevention and we ensure that all clients have access to the aftercare they need. We offer a free 8 week aftercare programme that consists of regular online video group therapy sessions where clients can see and interact not only with the counsellor but with the other participants as well. The familiarity of this continuing group dynamic has been found to increase the overall success and effectiveness of our addiction treatment programme.
The free and compulsory group counselling sessions can also be complimented with paid for one-on-one counselling sessions. In addition, we have outpatient clinics in various cities including Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore and Sydney. If you live in any of these locations then you can take advantage of our outpatient after care programmes as well.
What is a Sober House?
Once you have completed primary treatment of 60 days at Resort 12, you can attend secondary treatment at The Cabin’s Sober House, our other aftercare option. Secondary treatment helps to reinitiate a newly recovered addict back into society.
At Sober House, our clients live in a semi-structured, semi-supervised environment that still involves attending daily group therapy sessions but they have the freedom to choose how to fill the rest of their day with activities like community service, and are encouraged to take up a hobby or learn a new skill. Through this voluntary work, enjoyable social activities and chores around the house, they learn responsibility and sober time management techniques to use in their daily lives upon returning home.
What visa do I need?
The majority of our clients will receive a visa upon arrival in Thailand. Our admissions team will be able to confirm this and assist you further.
What if I want to extend my visa?
A visa extension is easily available and the Resort 12 team will guide and assist you through this process.

How to proceed with joining the programme?
Please fill out the contact form or call us on +66 52 080 717. One of our Intake Coordinators will explain more about our programme, our facilities and arrange an assessment with one of our clinical team.
Following the assessment, your Intake Coordinator will then help you plan your intake date, travel details. On arrival in Chiang Mai, you will be met by one of our intake team who will bring you to Resort 12 to meet your immediate medical needs and ensure your comfort.
In order to secure your reservation at Resort 12, an initial 20% deposit is required. The remaining balance is paid prior to your arrival via credit card or bank transfer. Your intake Coordinator will assist you through this process.
